1. Avalanche strikes Himlung expedition in Manang, up to 14 Nepali staff missing

   An avalanche struck an expedition on Himlung Himal in Manang's Nar Phu area on Sunday morning, leaving up to 14 Nepali support staff — Sherpas, guides and porters sent ahead to fix camp for foreign climbers who had not yet arrived — unaccounted for. Expedition organizer Bibhuti Chand Thakur said the team radioed that eight people "could not be seen" after fine weather turned bad, with the missing count later rising to 14. Poor weather grounded both private and army helicopters on standby in Kathmandu and Pokhara, and ground rescuers could not reach the site by land either.

   
2. हिमलुङ हिमपहिरोमा थप दुई शव भेटिए, मृतकको संख्या चार पुग्यो

   नेपाल राष्ट्रिय पर्वतीय गाइड संघको उद्धार टोलीले सोमबार वीरेन्द्र गुरुङ र घनश्याम राईको शव फेला पारेपछि हिमलुङ हिमपहिरोमा मृतकको संख्या चार पुगेको छ। यसअघि आइतबार छवि भोटे र पासाङ भोटेको शव फेला परेको थियो। संघले खोजी अझै जारी रहेको र थप व्यक्ति बेपत्ता हुनसक्ने जनाउँदै उद्धार कार्य निरन्तर राख्ने बताएको छ।

   
3. मनाङको हिम्लुङ हिमपहिरोमा गोरखाका दुई जना बेपत्ता

   गोर्खा जिल्लाका दुई पर्वतीय सहयोगी कर्मचारी — धार्चे नगरपालिका–२ केराउजाका वीरेन्द्र गुरुङ (३२) र आशबहादुर गुरुङ (४५) — हिमलुङ हिमपहिरोमा सम्पर्कविहीन भएका छन्। आशबहादुर इम्याजिन नेपाल एक्सपिडिसनमा गाइड तथा कुक थिए भने वीरेन्द्र हिमालयन होलिडेज कम्पनीमार्फत भरिया थिए। हालसम्म दुई शव फेला परेको छ र खोजी कार्य जारी रहेको बेला परिवारजनले उच्च जोखिमयुक्त क्षेत्रमा उद्धार तीव्र पार्न आग्रह गरेका छन्।

1. Kaligandaki flood destroys ~80 houses in Parbat; landslide kills five in Palpa

   The Kaligandaki river inundated the Farse settlement in Jaljala Rural Municipality-8, Parbat, destroying around 80 houses from Saturday evening; the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police helped evacuate residents amid power and communication outages that are hampering damage assessment. In neighbouring Palpa, a landslide before dawn Sunday buried a house and cattle shed in Mathagadhi Rural Municipality-3, killing 75-year-old Lil Bahadur Gharti Magar and, according to a later police count, four others nearby — 17-year-old Dina and 15-year-old Jharna Gharti Magar, plus Sherbahadur Chidi (75) and Krishnakumari Saru (59) — taking the district's landslide toll to five.

   
2. कालीगण्डकी करिडोरका विद्युत् टावर क्षतिग्रस्त, करिब १ हजार मेगावाट उत्पादन ठप्प

   भारी वर्षाका कारण खसेको पहिरोले कालीगण्डकी २२० केभी करिडोरका प्रसारण लाइन टावर क्षतिग्रस्त बनाएपछि निलगिरी–१, निलगिरी–२, अपर राहुघाट लगायत १२ जलविद्युत आयोजनाबाट ३५८.२ मेगावाट विद्युत प्रणालीबाहिर गएको छ। विद्युत प्राधिकरणका अनुसार बाढीपहिरोका कारण राष्ट्रियस्तरमा झन्डै १ हजार मेगावाट उत्पादन क्षमता ठप्प भएको छ, जसले अमलेखगन्ज, पर्सा, वीरगन्ज, सुनवल र बुटवलका औद्योगिक क्षेत्रमा करिब ३०० मेगावाट विद्युत कटौती गर्न बाध्य बनाएको छ।

   
3. Narayanghat-Muglin road reopens as highways clear in stages

   The Narayanghat-Muglin road has reopened and the Prithvi Highway was expected to follow, myRepublica reported, as crews cleared landslide debris blocking key routes. Ratopati reported the flood-damaged Besisahar-Chame road would need about a week to be fully restored, while Nagarik News listed multiple highways — including sections of the Kantipath, Dholyamod-Purchaudi and stretches in Gulmi — still obstructed by four straight days of rain, with repair crews mobilised as soon as the rain eased.

   
4. नारायणीको बाढीले बगाएको गैंडा सुस्तामा भेटियो

   चितवन राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्ज वरपरबाट शनिबार-आइतबारको ठूलो बाढीमा नारायणी नदीको प्रवाहमा बगेको करिब पाँच वर्षे गैंडा नवलपरासीको सुस्तामा फेला परेको छ। निकुञ्जका सूचना अधिकारीका अनुसार गैंडालाई बेहोस बनाई डुंगा वा भारतीय भूभागमार्फत फिर्ता ल्याइने योजना छ, किनकि सुस्ता पुग्न भारतीय भूमि हुँदै जानुपर्छ। २०१७ को बाढीमा यस्तै गरी बगेका १२ गैंडा भाल्मिकी टाइगर रिजर्भबाट फिर्ता ल्याइएको थियो; हाल निकुञ्जमा ६९४ गैंडा रहेको आधिकारिक गणना छ।

1. Deuba faction moves ahead with parallel Congress convention

   Sher Bahadur Deuba's faction is proceeding with its own parallel general convention after party president Gagan Thapa's leadership rejected calls to halt its own proceedings. The Deuba camp plans ward-level conventions from October 1 and a central convention on December 7-9, clashing with Thapa's 15th General Convention running October 2-5. The dispute traces to a January special convention that elected Thapa; while the Election Commission and Supreme Court upheld it, Deuba and Purna Bahadur Khadka won permission to file a review petition that remains pending. The Deuba camp reports about 783,836 active memberships, though over 30 previously Deuba-aligned leaders have since switched to back Thapa.

   
2. कांग्रेसको क्षेत्रीय अधिवेशन ३२ जिल्लामा सम्पन्न, दाङमा मात्रै ३२८७ प्रतिनिधि चयन

   नेपाली कांग्रेसको १५औं महाधिवेशनका लागि सोमबार ३२ जिल्लाका ५५ निर्वाचन क्षेत्रमा क्षेत्रीय अधिवेशन सम्पन्न भयो, जुन बाढीपहिरोका कारण दुई दिन ढिला भएको हो। निर्वाचन समिति संयोजक प्रेमबहादुर खड्काका अनुसार सबै ६२ जिल्लाले सोमबारभित्रै अधिवेशन सक्ने र थोरै मात्र मंगलबार बाँकी रहने बताए। दाङमा तीन निर्वाचन क्षेत्रबाट ३ हजार २८७ क्षेत्रीय प्रतिनिधि चयन भएका छन्, जसको दलगत झुकाव अझै औपचारिक रूपमा सार्वजनिक भएको छैन।

1. NEPSE slips through volatile, flood-shortened week as investors rotate into manufacturing

   The NEPSE index fell 0.66% over a three-day trading week disrupted by floods, closing at 2,629.81 points — down 17.41 points — as market capitalisation shed about Rs 30 billion to Rs 4.52 trillion. Manufacturing was the sole gaining sector, up 1.13%, with Himalayan Distillery climbing 7.19%, while hydropower and non-life insurance each fell 1.68% and finance dropped 1.51%. Average daily turnover actually improved to Rs 6.12 billion, and analysts pointed to reduced capital-gains tax rates and a central-bank rule letting banks trade listed shares after a 45-day holding period as key catalysts.

   
2. सुनको मूल्य घट्यो, तोला ३०० हजारभन्दा तल

   नेपाल सुनचाँदी व्यवसायी महासंघका अनुसार सुनको मूल्य मंगलबार बुधबारको तुलनामा तोलाको २,३०० रुपैयाँले घटेर २ लाख ९९ हजार ५०० रुपैयाँ कायम भएको छ, जबकि अघिल्लो दिन १,७०० रुपैयाँले बढेर ३ लाख १,८०० रुपैयाँ पुगेको थियो। चाँदीको मूल्य पनि तोलाको ६० रुपैयाँले घटेर ४,६२५ रुपैयाँमा झरेको छ।

   
3. राष्ट्र बैंकले ल्यायो ५० रुपैयाँको नयाँ नोट

   नेपाल राष्ट्र बैंकले असोज २ गतेदेखि परिमार्जित ५० रुपैयाँको नोट प्रचलनमा ल्याएको छ। अघिल्लो आकार र रङ यथावत् राखिएको नोटमा गभर्नर प्रा.डा. विश्वनाथ पौडेलको हस्ताक्षर, अगाडि सगरमाथाको चित्र र पछाडि लालीगुराँसको वाटरमार्क छ। नक्कली नोट रोक्न १.२ मिलिमिटरको सुरक्षा धागो र हिउँ चितुवाको चित्र सहितको थप सुरक्षा फिचर राखिएको छ।

1. Iran holds firm on Hormuz reopening plan after Trump publicly rejects it

   Iran presented a diplomatic plan at the UN General Assembly, via Qatari mediators, that would open a seven-day countdown to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and pause regional fighting in the seven-month war that has disrupted oil shipping since February 28. President Trump dismissed the offer, telling reporters Iran "want[s] to make a deal to open the Hormuz Strait immediately because they're losing so badly," though the Wall Street Journal reported he privately doubts Iran will meet his demands. Iranian President Pezeshkian insisted Iran "is not seeking war, but will defend itself," and Foreign Minister Araqchi said only a negotiated solution can end the deadlock; officials in Tehran say mediators have not yet formally conveyed a US rejection.

   
2. Colombia earthquake death toll climbs past 280 as rescue hopes fade

   The death toll from a 7.4-magnitude earthquake in Colombia has reached 281, with 348 people rescued and about 400 still missing, and more than 10,600 homes destroyed. National disaster management director David Santiago Tamayo said the probability of finding survivors is diminishing, though rescuer Diana Rojas said the team heard voices at 2:30pm and hope remains. The US, Peru, El Salvador, Mexico and Brazil have sent help, the UAE pledged $10 million and China more than $3 million, while South American football bodies donated $1 million.

1. Washout seals top spot for Nepal in Asian Games cricket, Sri Lanka wait in quarterfinal

   Nepal secured top spot in Group A of the 20th Asian Games cricket after their match against Japan was abandoned due to rain, with Nepal already having enough points to advance.
